Our specialist trade mark department has an excellent reputation, having been awarded the titles of "Trade Mark Prosecution Firm of the Year 2010" by Managing Intellectual Property Magazine, and "Trademarks Firm of the Year, UK" by Finance Monthly Magazine in its Law Awards 2011. Our group has also just won "Trade Marks Law Firm of the Year, UK" by Lawyer Monthly in its Legal Awards 2011.
Our clients range from start-up businesses, through SMEs, to large multinational companies with global product or service ranges. We manage some tens of thousands of trade marks in over 200 jurisdictions, providing advice tailored to each client's specific branding needs.
We strive to deliver a high quality, friendly and cost effective service. Working with other teams within the firm we provide seamless advice across the entire spectrum of intellectual property: from trade marks, domain names and copyright through registered and unregistered designs to patents. We provide comprehensive advice and services on all aspects of trade mark choice, clearance, registration, and worldwide portfolio management.
Our dynamic team (see links to profiles below) have considerable experience in trade mark matters in the UK, Europe and internationally. We have expertise in handling contentious matters and offer quick responses to many trade marks problems. We pride ourselves on our economical and pragmatic approach, offering settlement solutions before positions become entrenched.
Our experience in handling trade mark matters extends beyond the UK, and Europe more generally, to other major economies such as P.R. China, USA and Japan. The Community Trade Mark system for the European Union is now well established. The filing and prosecution of Community Trade Mark applications is increasingly important to our clients, being a cost effective route to securing trade mark protection across the European Union. We also have considerable experience of handling International "Madrid" Registrations, and dealing with the legal and practical considerations that brings. In addition to trade mark prosecution work, we have wide experience of handling contentious matters in the European Union, which can raise delicate questions on the choice of forum to litigate, and elsewhere. We are well placed to assist clients to make a decision in this arena.
Beyond our day-to-day trade mark practice, our team is actively involved in the teaching and examination of Trade Mark Law and contributes to a number of the core publications on UK and Community trade mark law and practice.
