Lucy Stewart
Consultant
Lucy has an Honours Degree in Chemistry with German from the University of Hull. She also has a PhD in Coordination Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh. She qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2004 and as a British Patent Attorney in 2005. Prior to joining Kilburn & Strode, Lucy was a senior associate at another leading firm of patent attorneys.
Working primarily with multi-national corporations, Lucy has experience in obtaining patent protection for clients in a wide variety of chemical subject matter including chemical engineering, with particular emphasis upon catalysis, polymer chemistry, fluorocarbon chemistry, materials science including ceramic composite materials and their applications, and homecare products. Working with this type of client, in particular, has enabled Lucy to gain significant experience of opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office.
Lucy also has experience of working with private inventors, universities and smaller British-based firms, again on a variety of chemical subject matter including inks and printing technologies, nanotechnology and pharmaceutical chemistry, as well as mechanical subject matter. In addition, she advises on the infringement and validity of patents.
Lucy is also a named inventor on various patent applications covering her research into hydrometallurgy.
