Jeremy Smith

Jeremy graduated from the University of Manchester in 2007 with a first-class MPhys degree in Physics. His final-year project (the results of which were published in Astronomy & Astrophysics) involved original research developing and implementing a computer program to plot 3D trajectories of relativistic charged particles in electric and magnetic field configurations that occur in solar flares. His other main projects were based around nuclear magnetic resonance and investigating the quantum mechanical effect of single-photon interference using lasers.
Jeremy joined Kilburn & Strode in 2007 as a technical assistant, working with the IT, Electronics and Physics group. In 2009, he obtained the Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London. He qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2011.
Jeremy's experience includes the drafting and prosecution of applications at the European Patent Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office. He has considerable experience of Oppositions and Appeals at the European Patent Office. He works directly with a variety of clients from start-ups to large corporations across a broad range of technical fields. He is currently co-ordinating a worldwide patent filing strategy in the smart card field. His patent advice has helped an SME client to achieve success on the BBC's Dragons' Den programme for entrepreneurs seeking investment capital.
