Elizabeth Crooks

Elizabeth obtained a BSc double honours degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry in 1995 and a PhD in Bio-Organic Chemistry in 1998, from the University of Southampton.
Elizabeth joined Kilburn & Strode in December 1998 and became a partner in 2008. She qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2002 and as a UK Patent Attorney in 2005.
Elizabeth works primarily in the area of chemistry (particularly organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and biochemistry). She has particular experience of working in the area of pharmaceuticals including the protection of new chemical entities, drug delivery formulations and the protection of new polymorphic forms of drugs. She also concentrates on the protection of polymers, new synthetic methods, catalysts and microfluidics.
Elizabeth's practice concentrates on the drafting and world wide prosecution of patent applications. She represents clients before the European Patent Office in pre-grant proceedings, oppositions and appeals. She works closely with companies in identifying inventions and proposing patent protection strategies, including patent portfolio management. Elizabeth also has experience of providing infringement and validity opinions.
