Kristina Cornish

Kristina obtained a BSc honours degree in Biotechnology from the University of London in 1991. Her degree course included a one-year placement as a molecular biologist at a plant biotechnology company. She qualified professionally in 1996. She became a partner in 1999.
Her practice includes the drafting of patent applications together with worldwide filing and prosecution programmes in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceutical chemistry. She advises clients in areas of patent strategy and represents clients at the European Patent Office in prosecution matters, oppositions and appeals. Kristina has a track record of assisting various multi-national companies in their offensive and defensive patent position as they bring products to the marketplace. Kristina is regularly involved in providing advice in relation to infringement queries, as well as conducting freedom to operate searches on a world-wide scale.
Kristina lectures inside and outside of the profession. She is an examiner for the European Qualifying Examinations at the European Patent Office (Opposition paper) and is a member of the UK BioIndustry Association's Intellectual Property Advisory Committee. She has a particular interest in biotechnology patents in the USA.
