Trade Marks Team
Our renowned trade marks team has one of the best reputations of any specialist trade mark department in Europe. Being part of a firm with nearly 100 years in the business, we do not rest upon our experience in managing some tens of thousands of trade marks in over 200 jurisdictions but instead we continuously attempt to provide our goal of a high quality yet friendly and cost-effective service.
Since our firm specialises exclusively in Intellectual Property and is therefore run by IP professionals, we are free to design and adapt our systems to be run just as they should be. We invest continuously in modern systems to achieve this goal.
Furthermore, our longstanding experience as a firm which also handles design and patent matters means that we have the flexiblility to provide seamless legal and practical advice from trade marks, domain names and copyright through registered and unregistered designs to patents.
We provide comprehensive advice and services on all aspects of trade mark choice, clearance, registration if appropriate and worldwide portfolio management. We have a team of professionals (see links to profiles below) who have considerable experience in trade mark matters in the UK, Europe and internationally.

Rapid computerised trade mark searching enables us to offer quick responses to many trade marks problems and to present opportunities for economical negotiated solutions before positions become entrenched. Clients are able to view their portfolios online from anywhere using our KSIPTM online access system.
The introduction of the Community Trade Mark system for the European Union has been one of the most significant recent developments, and the filing and prosecution of such applications is becoming increasingly important to our clients. The addition of the European Union, United States and Japan as possible designations in Madrid international trade mark registrations also raises new practical issues. Infringement under the Community Trade Mark system will raise delicate questions on the choice of a national court in which to litigate. We have wide experience of the various European national registration and litigation practices and are well placed to assist clients to make a decision where to sue, whether or not we remain involved in the resulting litigation.
