UK Intellectual Property Office - responsible for intellectual property (patents, trade marks, designs and copyright) in the UK.
European Patent Office - responsible for the prosecution and grant of European patents.
World Intellectual Property Organisation - administers a number of international treaties dealing with different aspects of intellectual property, including the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
OHIM (Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market Trademarks and Designs) - registers Community trade marks and Community designs.
United States Patent and Trademark Office - responsible for the examination and issuance of US patents and the registration of US trademarks.
Japanese Patent Office - responsible for intellectual property rights in Japan.
Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys - the professional body for patent attorneys or agents in the United Kingdom. Details of the code of conduct for UK registered patent attorneys can be obtained from CIPA.
Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys - the professional body for trade mark attorneys in the United Kingdom.
European Patent Institute - the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office, including a code of professional conduct.
The Court Service - provides access to selected legal decision from the UK Courts.
The European Court of Justice - provides access to judgements, opinions and orders of the Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance.
Nominet - this site is the registry for UK Internet domain names.
Companies House - this site enables on-line searching of past and present names for Limited Companies in the UK.
CPA (Computer Patent Annuities Limited Partnership) - an organisation responsible for the handling of the payment of renewal fees worldwide.
UK Patent Status Enquiry - an electronic version of the British Patent Office Register for checking the status of UK and EP(UK) patents.
UK Trade Marks Status Enquiry - searching facilities to find out details and status of a UK trade mark from either the number or the mark.
UK Designs Register Enquiry - an electronic version of the UK Patent Office Designs Register for checking the status of UK designs.
Epoline - an electronic service from the European Patent Office to check the status of European applications and to obtain copies of papers from some files.
Esp@cenet - a database of the full text and drawings for PCT, European and national patents and applications.
WIPS - a website with a database of full text and drawings from patent publications in a number of countries including Korea, Japan, China, PCT, US and Europe accessible using a unique search engine enabling English language input.
