Trainee Patent Attorney

Location: London office of Kilburn & Strode LLP
Starting salary: Competitive

We have a position for a new technical assistant in our Mechanical Engineering Team. The Team work for a diverse range of clients from individuals and universities to large multinational corporations. The work covers a broad range of technical mechanical fields including automotive, aerospace, cleantech and medical/surgical devices.

You will receive on-the-job training over several years to qualify by exam as both a UK and European patent attorney. You should have good analytical skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to reason logically, both orally and in writing. Excellent written English is an essential requirement for the job.

You should also be able to demonstrate the ability to work individually to strict deadlines and to work as part of a team. You should have or expect to get a good degree (minimum 2.1) in Mechanical Engineering or another form of engineering degree covering mechanical subjects. You will also be expected to show a commitment to undertaking further study for the professional exams. Some knowledge of French and/or German is useful but not essential.

You should ideally be able to start your employment no later than September 2012.
